You too were raised with Christ. We all identify fully with our lord and
savior in all aspects of his finished works. Perhaps the following will help
explain how we can have fulfillment in another’s work.
There was no time left on the clock and my team was behind by one point. I
was lined up on the side of the basket watching my teammate preparing to shoot
2 free throws. This was the most important game of the season and these 2
shots determined if we would be the champions or not. It was all up to the one
player. It was in his hands to make all of us winners or losers. I along with
all my other teammates – even the ones who sat on the bench and didn’t
play – would either be winners or losers according to the one player’s
success at making the 2 free throws.
Spiritually our status before God was determined by one man, Jesus Christ.
He scored the winning points for our redemption by giving his life on the
cross. God, the Father, accepted him as the final Passover offering by raising
him from the dead and seating him at His own right hand.
You too as born again ones, via Romans 10:9 & 10, identify fully with
Jesus Christ’s finished works. He fulfilled the requirements for man’s
redemption. Therefore because of his accomplishments, we too fully associate
with him.
Romans 6:4 & 5:
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall
be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Ephesians 2:6:
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in
heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
As we live life and take on the challenges the world throws at us, let’s
remember we are on the winning team. Just like my teammate scored both free
throws to make us champions. Jesus Christ gave his life, fulfilling all the
requirements in redeeming mankind so that all those who confess with their
mouth the lord Jesus and believe in their heart that God raised him from the
dead (Romans 10:9) they immediately become sons of God, raised and seated in
the presence of God.
