There are many things that motivate people to act. As people act on that
motivation they fulfill certain desires.
Some of the things that motivate people are the desire to be wealthy,
desire to be free, nationalism, to find a cure to some disease, to accomplish
athletic feats of some kind, strong philosophical beliefs, religious beliefs,
fear, love, hate, jealousy and on and on the list could go.
When you take life back to the beginning all you have left is God and His
Word. God authored life. Through His Word He put everything in life in its
proper place.
Genesis 1:3, 6, 20, 24 and 26:
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one
place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that
hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open
firmament of heaven.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,
cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it
was so.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth.
Not only did God originate life and man, but He gave man instructions on
how to live life with fulfillment. Those instructions are His Word that we
have in the form of the Bible. Logically then the right and most fulfilling
motivation has to be God’s Word.
Matthew 4:4:
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
So why not focus our desires on doing God’s Will by being motivated by
what God’s Word says. It sure worked for Noah, Abraham, David, Paul and
Jesus Christ!
Jeremiah 15:16:
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy
and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of
hosts.
