An important part of the manufacturing process of any item is the quality assurance. Anyone who makes tooth picks to the sophisticated electrical systems on the NASA shuttles has someone, or even a complete department, dedicated to quality assurance. Their job is to ensure the specification of each aspect of the production is being carried through accurately. They check the product during all phases and at the end fully testing it to make sure it fulfills all requirements and specifications for accuracy. As concerned believers living some 2000 years since the new testament of God’s Word was first given when “...holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost [God]” (II Peter 1:21), we are very much concerned about the accuracy of God’s Word. We realize it has been subject to many translations and commentaries that have provided many interpretations to the Scriptures. This has caused great confusion within the Christian church to the extent that it is vital we apply quality assurance techniques to the working of God’s Word. God is perfect, His Word is perfect. God is not a man that He should lie.
There is absolutely a right understanding to God’s Word. We just need to be diligent workman of the Word of God as it says in II Timothy 2:15: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The value of the true Word of God, known and understood, far exceeds all the material wealth the world could ever offer. That is why quality assurance is of utmost importance when working the integrity of God’s Word. Eternal life and eternal death for each and every person on the face of the earth is at the crux of properly working God’s Word. We better get it right! It fully behooves us to apply the utmost quality assurance procedures that we can. Working the integrity of God’s Word should be every believer’s passion in life. There is still too much error and misunderstanding on the key issues in God’s Word that bring confusion to many. Faithful workmen of God’s Word are sorely needed in the Body of Christ. We are thankful that most Christians focus is on the redemptive Christ, but are sadden by the gross error many make in saying Jesus Christ is God and God is Jesus Christ. They do not know the distinction between them according to God’s Word. We are thankful that most Christians recognize the value of being baptized, but are sadden that dipping, dunking and sprinkling are reverenced rather than the baptism of the holy spirit when someone is born again. We are grateful most Christians recognize that believers are filled with power via the new birth, but are sadden that most do not understand that the nine manifestations (not gifts) are given to each and every believer. We are appreciative that a majority of Christians accept the church epistles but are saddened that they laud the 4 gospels above the 7 church epistles. They do not recognize what is addressed to them and are grossly ignorant of the great mystery highlighted in the church epistles. Quality assurance is realized when we diligently go to God’s Word to rightly divide it.
The word “search” in the Greek is ereunaō which E. W. Bullinger defines: “To search as a lion or hound tracks by the scent.” We do not just give a once in a while look at God’s Word, but we put our “nose in the book” to find the integrity and accuracy of what God is saying. The point of this article is to draw your attention to recognizing how important it is to diligently work God’s Word. We want to be absolutely sure we have done our best in the quality assurance department to produce the rightly divided Word of God. - Bob Lindfelt
