An Issue of Trust

Many things have been written about the subjects of tithing and abundant sharing. There are valid points in all the literature I have thus far read. However, upon reflecting once again on the precepts of God, I have come to realize how little we really walk out on His promises.

When it comes to giving, we know that it is God’s will for us to do so. In this administration of grace we are not bound by a percentage, but have greater freedom and choice. Yet, we are admonished many times to trust God and His word, and to test that trust.

    Psalm 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

    Malachi 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Moreover, in Acts we are told to give according to what we have; and in Corinthians, God says that He looks on the heart.

    II Corinthian 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of  necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

The question is: do we really understand the depth of giving? Giving cheerfully demonstrates our attitude of heart. The amount that we give is a demonstration of how much we REALLY trust God. For the most part the spiritual laws pertaining to man are manifested through the physical realm. This is true whether we walk out on speaking in tongues, or minister healing to someone, or speak God’s Word to someone. These actions hinge upon our believing in what God says, which is based upon the trust we have put in Him.

The more we trust our Heavenly Father, the bigger and bolder our actions will be. It is not that God blesses us more since we have decided to give a certain percentage of our money. We are the ones who have drawn closer to Daddy and have begun to let Him do more for us.

I understand that trust is earned, and that for many of us it will take a while before we really reach a depth of trust in someone else, yet, what a glorious victory in our lives, once we achieve that intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father!

As is says in Romans, believing comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). In light of this I am always mindful and thankful that God Almighty has said, PROVE ME NOW HEREWITH (Malachi 3:10).

God bless you; you truly can be and expect the best from God.
