Our responses too many times are determined on what catches our eye. In
other words, we are quick to judge people and situations by what we see going
on. My neighbor has a Porsche, a Jaguar and a Cadillac Escalade parked in his
drive way. As you read this I bet you are already forming some kind of opinion
about him – just because of the cars he has. This is a very natural
response. We all are conditioned to form judgments by the outward appearance.
Thankfully our Heavenly Father does not think like this.
I Samuel 16:7b:
for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the
outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
Man tends to think he knows it all and puts himself above God.
Proverbs 21:2:
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD
pondereth the hearts.
Thankfully God did not judge His son like man judges people. Jesus Christ
was despised by virtually everyone. He was ridiculed, put to a dishonorable
death, and even forsaken by his closest friends. Yet the Heavenly Father saw
him as the perfect offering for all time, for all men.
Isaiah 53:3-7:
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with
grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and
carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was
upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is
brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is
dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
The Lord Jesus Christ, as the complete sacrifice, opened the door to the
new birth realities that everyone today has access to.
Hebrews 5:9:
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all
them that obey him;
Hebrews 10:14:
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
God has done the greatest “inside job” of all time as a result of this
perfect sacrifice. The “inside job” takes place when a person believes
Romans 10:9 (That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved.) He is born again with Christ within. He now belongs to the
Heavenly Father forever. Now by his freedom of will he can think and act like
his Father, looking not at the outer appearance of things, but looking on the
heart.
We are what the Word of God says we are, and we have what the Word of God
says we have, and we will be what the Word of God says we will be. Now we
simply accept this and walk out in every situation of life knowing we are sons
of God with power.
What counts is not how we look, or the car we drive, or the clothes we wear
etc. We are sons of God now and forever. If Jesus Christ would show up on the
scene how would he see us? Naturally we would be a little self conscious of
how we look and what we are doing on the outside. But remember Jesus is like
His Father, he looks on the inside.
Hebrew 2:11:
For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all
of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
If Jesus Christ is not ashamed to call you brethren, then what should our
attitude toward ourselves and other believers be? We can have great self
esteem with ourselves and others because we have Christ within. “Now, are we
the sons of God…” (I John 3:2).
Our day should start by looking within rather then looking around us.
Natural man gets up in the morning and starts looking at the weather to form
judgments about the day. Then he looks at the newspaper to see the horrific
problems of the day. Then he starts thinking what has to be done and how in
the world is he going to get it accomplished.
As a born again believer, why not just get up in the morning and speak in
tongues and praise the Father. Then start filling your mind with affirmations
of who you are in Christ and all the spiritual realities that are yours for
ever and ever. No matter the weather or the condition of the world, you are
still a son of God with power.
Colossians 1:21 and 22:
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind
by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable
and unreproveable in his sight:
God wants us blessed all the time. Being blessed is not determined by our
physical condition, appearance, the car we drive, the house we live in, the
job we have or not have.
Romans 8:31-33:
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us,
who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall
he not with him also freely give us all things?
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s
elect? It is God that justifieth.
The great challenge for the believer is to see themselves as the loving
Heavenly Father sees them. Remember it is the inside job that counts.
We need to do what it takes to convince our minds of who we are in Christ.
A suggested formula for doing this is to read God’s Word daily; pray daily
including speaking in tongues much; participate in fellowships, have a daily
prayer partner, fellowship with like-minded believers, attend classes,
seminars and other events that teaches God’s Word. God so desires that we
involve ourselves in the lifestyle of a son of God all the time, not just once
a week.
Romans 12:1 and 2:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is
your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God.
We are God’s workmanship designed to do good works.
Ephesians 2:10:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Let’s recognize what God sees in us as well as in other believers. We are
His eternal sons. Let’s get excited about the dynamic inside job God has
performed in us and walk confidently in this world until Christ comes back.
