In God's Family - A Letter

God bless you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our lord.

It is thrilling to see the Word of God being lived in the family of God. For many people in the world, being a Christian only applies to Sunday mornings and perhaps a few seconds just before meals.

Being a Christian is one thing. Living as a Christian is another. Recognizing Christ within, with all the spiritual realities of being a son of God with all power and authority to use the name of Jesus Christ to bring healing and deliverance, makes for a heart-thrilling lifestyle.

II Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

It blesses me to see the believers in the family of God, not only going to fellowships but working together, enjoying recreation activities together, hanging out together, sharing hearts together, talking about moving God’s Word together… And why not! God has not called us with all this power and authority to just use one day a week. It is a family 24/7. I guess that scares some people that they would have to act like a Christian all the time. They say it is too hard to be good all the time! Living as a Christian should never be difficult. Being a Christian is being a child in the Heavenly Father’s family. As His child, you have access to his forgiveness, His mercy, His guidance, His direction, His healing, His power. You see, people have it all backwards. It is actually harder to live as a non-Christian than to live as a born again believer.

Living as a Christian believer is a matter of putting your heart into growing in the Word and love of God. God has given us a most worthy goal of helping people get born again and then helping them to live the more abundant life. Next, we can help them reach others with God’s Word. Our lifestyle is so exhilarating that when others are around us they want to know the truth.

I Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

II Corinthians 5:18-20
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

If you are a Christian and you are not excited about living and helping others, you need to do some “heart gardening” (See page 2). Then make a decision to go to God’s Word and learn who you really are and how important your life is in the Body of Christ.

Romans 6:11-13
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

I John 3:1 & 2
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Philippians 2:12-16
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

You have only one life to live. You might as well accept the truth that you belong to the Heavenly Father and learn who you really are. Then get turned on to live a joyous life doing God’s will! Every member in the Body of Christ has a specific function (including you), so talk with Him and place your heart into God’s Word and take off on an inspiring adventure being a member of the One Body of Christ.

Ephesians 5:15-21
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Philippians 4:4-8
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Philippians 3:13 & 14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

I am very excited about the Saturday, August 25th Family Bless Night. It will be a wonderful opportunity for the saints to eat together and entertain each other with songs, skits, short sharings, poems, etc. There is nothing like giving to get outside of yourself and to bless others.

Agapé,
Bob Lindfelt
