A common phrase we use when talking about logical situations is “cause
and effect.” Nothing just happens. When something does happen there is a
cause. Let’s break down this simple axiom and then look at “causes and
effects” in God’s Word.
Definition:
Cause – kôz – The producer of an effect, result or consequence.
One responsible for an action or a result. Basis for an action or a result.
Effect – ĭ-fĕkt′ - Something brought about by a cause
or an agent. A result. An effect is produced by the action of an agent or a
cause and follows it in time.
When we read God’s Word we see “cause and effect.” For instance: Adam
did the one thing God told him not to do. The result was the loss of spirit
life. The cause was disobeying God and the effect was spiritual death. Here is
a list of other examples. Perhaps with this simple logic we can learn the
simplicity of how to make the Word of God live for us.
