Bold Bible Living

A monumental quality the believers had, as evidenced in the Book of Acts, was their boldness. Before the day of Pentecost they were behind closed doors for fear of the Jews, but on the day of Pentecost when they received power from on high they were changed men. They were exercising the power that Jesus Christ spoke of in his last words before his ascension.

Acts 1:8:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Boldness is a result of confidence which is a result of trust and believing in the Word of God. When we prove the Word of God we gain confidence. We must believe and then we will see. This is an awesome lifestyle we now live as witnesses unto Christ.

In Acts Chapter 3, we see the lame man walking and leaping and praising God for a great miracle was brought to pass in his life by the believing power of the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Do you think the apostles got a little excited? When you see the power of God in manifestation you become more bold and confident to walk out on the promises of God.

Acts 4:13:
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

This bold teaching of the Word caused about five thousand men to believe. It also caused the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees to get worried that if it spread further many more would believe. They called Peter and John to stand before them and commanded them to not speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus. Peter responded with “For we cannot, but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4: 20).

Peter then went back to the fellowship and reported what the chief priests had said. Instead of becoming fearful because of their threatening they lifted up their voice to God with one accord and praised God and prayed:

Acts 4:29-31:
And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

The believers had great confidence and were likeminded to preach the gospel, and the Word of God increased greatly. We have that same spirit within and the same Word of God to see signs, miracles and wonders. We too can believe and walk with boldness. We too can believe what the Word of God says we are. We are lights in this world. We are ambassadors for the lord Jesus Christ. We are sons of God with all power. We need to think that way, act that way and train ourselves to live that way. That’s Bold Bible Living.

I John 4:17:
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

As Jesus Christ is so are we. Who is Jesus Christ? He is the only begotten son of God. Who are we? We are sons of God, joint heirs with Christ. Shouldn’t that allow us some boldness! We can walk as he walked. As born again ones we are complete in Christ and can boldly stand on the Word of God and live in confidence. Why? Because God says it; therefore I can believe it. Let’s walk in boldness and love.
