As born again ones we are all in the “people” business. It is all about family. There is no loners in the Body of Christ, at least as far as the Heavenly Father is concerned.
Just like our Father and His son, our brother, Jesus Christ, our aim is for all men to be saved AND all men come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:4).
By being saved (Romans 10:9) I’ve got a seat in eternity. By coming to a knowledge of the truth and living it by helping others in the family business or bringing others into the family business, I not only have a seat in eternity, but I have a place at the bema, the rewards stand ( I Corinthians 3:14).
You and I are a shining light in a dark world, that desperately needs at least a glimpse of the of truth.
Philippians 2:15 & 16:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
God has called us into His tremendous light so that we would shine unto others the tremendous truth of His love and care for everyone.
I Peter 2:9:
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
While our job is to hold forth the light of God’s Word, our enemy the evil one – Satan, is trying to snuff out the light.
II Corinthians 4:4-6:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Recently I received a letter from a believer whom I helped with God’s Word. Those words, “you made a difference in my life by what you shared with me,” melted my heart. Those simple loving words make all the hard work and mental pressures of our business well worth it. No financial reward can match the loving response from someone that you have helped with the light of God’s Word.
All the wealth of the world cannot top the worth of a soul won to the family of God and denied the destiny of the evil one.
Don’t forget we are always in His family. The pressures and pleasures of the world may confront us, but we always have God’s Word to guide us.
Psalms 119:105:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Walking on God’s Word will cause us to shine out in this dark world. There are still many who hunger and thirst for truth. They will be attracted to the loving truth we live and share.
Proverbs 4:18:
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
There is so much that matters in the world: Our income, paying bills, relationships, elections, global warming etc. These are important, but being born again of God’s spirit (Romans 10:9) is what really counts in this life.
Daniel 12:3
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness [are] as the stars for ever and ever.
That is quite a comparison. As we hold forth God’s Word, the words of righteousness (right living) we are compared as the magnificent stars of the heavens. That is much brighter than being a candle for the Lord. So many times we compare ourselves as candles when we talk about being lights of the world.
The light of our life – God’s Word - needs to keep shining forth so that people can witness the living truth.
Ephesians 5:8:
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
There is much at stake when we consider being without God. People are living in darkness and are without hope and without truth. Let’s continue to shine as stars in this dark world by holding forth the Words of life that we may rejoice in that day when Christ returns for us.
