When I was young my perception of a minister was some mousy type person. In virtually all the movies and TV shows I saw this was the case. The main quality attributed to them was being meek and humble, but instead of it being a noble quality it was for the most part a weak attribute.
When I started learning the integrity and accuracy of God's Word, my opinion for a meek and humble person drastically changed. All the elite men of God displayed meekness. Meekness and humility was the essential ingredient for the most dynamic men and women of God in the Bible. God can only work with those who are meek. For instance Moses was quite a man’s man. He faced up to pharaoh; he believed God to split open the seas for masses of people to cross on dry land; he believed God for food and water to take care of over a million people. What was the single most important quality that allowed him to accomplish so much? "Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth." (Numbers 12:3).
The greatest man to every live – Jesus Christ – was a meek man. "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." (Matthew 11:29). Meekness is a very valuable quality to be manifested in our lives. "For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation." (Psalm 149:4).
I Peter 3:4:
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
God works with those who are meek. "The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way." (Psalm 25:9). To receive from God takes meekness. "…receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." (James 1:21b). It is very obvious that the essential ingredient for any successful man or woman of God is meekness.
Realizing the greatness of who we are in Christ as born again ones is an awesome feeling. To live in all the fullness of whom we are in Christ takes this essential ingredient of meekness. It will help us grow and mature so that we can function to the very best in the body of Christ.
Proverbs 22:4:
By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
Let our lives be ones like Moses and Jesus Christ and others that manifested the essential ingredient for successful living – meekness.
