The Greatest of These ...

E-mail Print PDF

There are three fantastic realities in God’s Word that provide man with awesome power and the assurance of God’s care and concern. Of these three, one stands out greater than the others. They are faith (believing), hope and charity (the love of God).

I Corinthians 13:13:
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Faith

Faith or believing is essential to receiving anything from God. Believing is the touchstone of receiving. Hebrews 11:6 declares, “without faith it is impossible to please him.” Mark 17:20 declares, that with believing the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains. Obviously believing is an essential part of a believer’s life.

Hope

Hope is important to inspire believers to live for the future. We have the hope of Christ return that motivates us to put up with and move through the challenges of each day. We know Christ is coming back. What a hope! I Corinthians 15:17 declares, "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." This is in regard to if the resurrection of Christ had not occurred. Hebrews 6:19 says, "Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast,"… Hope plays a key role in the stamina of a believer.

Love

The love of God is essential because it is the motivator of all that God has done. It motivated God to provide a complete lord and savior. What is so terrific is that the manifestation of God’s love is focused on blessing you and me! He desires us to have the very best.

John 3:16:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The love of God got everything started and will carry on through eternity. It was the love of God that initiated God to have a family; to redeem man; and to provide His grace and mercy. The great energizer of the gift of holy spirit is the love of God.

We have God’s love to manifest in our lives. This far exceeds our own natural love.

Romans 5:5:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Our motivation should be to learn about this love that God has for us and has given to us to use. Then after learning about it, manifest it and live it.

I John 4:9-11:
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Of all the wonderful abilities, manifestations, and sonship rights we have, it is the love of God that needs to be operated as we function in the One Body of Christ. How do we practically live this love?

Ephesians 5:1 and 2:
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Let’s believe the promises of God. Let’s realize our hope that Christ is coming back at any time soon. But, along with faith and hope, let’s remember: greatest of these is the love of God in manifestation!

Psalm 34
:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

I Corinthians 15:52
