The greatness of Pentecost was that people could become born again of the gift of holy spirit. People could confess with their mouth the lord Jesus and believe in their heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9) and they would be saved and become part of the Church, the One Body of Christ. It is recorded in the Book of Acts 2:41, that “about 3,000 souls” were added to the Church that day.
A significant aspect of what was made available within the gift of holy spirit is rarely recognized. And that is the nine manifestations of the gift of holy spirit. Many Christians miss out on the dynamic blessings God has intended for all His born again children because they do not know about these manifestations and how they work.
With the gift of the holy spirit came tremendous power by which the Christian can exercise phenomenal abilities that enhance their prayer life, open the doors of communication to God Almighty, allow them to bring exhorting messages within the fellowship meetings, give them insight on recognizing the spirit world, and allows them to perform healings and do miracles. Now that is more than just belonging to the Church!
Jesus Christ instructed his disciples just before ascending up into Heaven that they would receive power and abilities way beyond what they could do naturally.
Acts 1:8:This new birth spirit was not going to be some transparent act that went unnoticed. The emphasis was that they were to receive power!
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Luke 24:49:Again, the emphasis is power. They would be “endued” which from the Greek word means “to be clothed.” You have heard, “Clothes make the man.” Well, look at what the Christian is wearing! He is clothed with the power of the holy spirit which includes the outfit of all nine manifestations of the spirit.
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
I Corinthians 12:7The following verses in I Corinthians, Chapter 12, verses 8 – 10, list out nine different manifestations that represent the power base of the born again Christian. These nine are:
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
- Speaking in tongues
- Tongues with interpretation
- Prophecy
- Word of Knowledge
- Word of Wisdom
- Discerning of spirits
- Faith
- Healing
- Miracles
What we have today is without words to express! Every, without exception, born again one has all nine manifestations at their disposal.
Very few churches teach this reality. They are concerned just to get you saved and become a member of their church.
Getting saved is wonderful. It’s eternal life. But also realize that you have nine manifestations that dynamically help you walk with and for the Father.
Briefly, here is what each manifestation offers the believer:
- Receives the ability to speak in tongues – perfect prayer to the Heavenly Father; it is praise to Him; it makes intercession for the saints; it is confirmation in the senses realm of being born again; It is a means of building you up spiritually to name a few benefits.
- Receives the ability to speak in tongues and interpret in a believers meeting. This manifestation is operated for the purpose of building up the people in that particular fellowship by exhortation and comfort.
- The ability to give a word of prophecy in a believer’s meeting. This functions just like interpretation of tongues. It also builds the people up by exhortation and comfort.
- Word of knowledge is the ability to receive revelation from God Almighty about a given situation that will benefit you or others that are involved in that situation.
- Word of wisdom is the ability to receive revelation from God Almighty about what to do in a given situation that will benefit you or others.
- Discerning of spirits is the ability to receive revelation from God Almighty about recognizing and identifying spirits that will benefit you or others.
- Faith is the ability to have the believing to bring to pass the impossible that will benefit you or others.
- Healing is the ability to bring healing to yourself or others.
- Miracles is the ability to bring to pass miracles that will benefit you or others.
It is time for the Church to wake up to realize all that they have wrapped up in the gift of holy spirit when they were born again.
Those who desire to minister and serve need to learn and grow in the usage of these fantastic manifestations. The results are that they will be most effective and others will be tremendously blessed.
