The early church moved from meeting in the synagogues to fellowshipping in the homes. It was in people’s houses that God’s Word moved in the hearts of believers and saw its growth. It was not through bigger buildings and organizations.
Acts:2:46: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
The initial place for people to gather was in the temple area. It was here people were witnessed to and then brought to believer’s homes to learn and live their new life in Christ. See Acts 20:20 and Colossians 4:15.
The early persecution of the Church took place not in the temple, but in the homes. This is were the unsaved Paul (Saul) found believers. “As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.” (Acts 8:3). Years later in Thessalonica, the Jews moved against the Church: “But the Jews…set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason….”
Where else can believers come and be loved and taught, as well as have the opportunity to give and serve, than in a believer’s home? As you put on your athletic shoes being all excited by the things of God (See page 1 to understand this statement), participate fully in a home fellowship. Get into living the life-style of a born again child of God filled with the gift of holy spirit. If you do not have a fellowship to go to, find one, or ask the Heavenly Father to help you form one.
I am not saying forsake larger meetings. There is a purpose for large functions, seminars, camps and other gathering formats. But in the home family fellowship, like no where else, can believers be personally ministered to. It is here they can function as God has called them in ministering to the saints.
