It has been God Almighty’s desire since the fall of Adam to set His people free. In Genesis 3:15 it says the seed of the woman will bruise Satan’s head. Another translation declares that the seed of the woman would “break his power”.
Jesus Christ’s mission statement was prophesied in Isaiah 61 and repeated again in Luke:
Luke 4:18 (AMP)
The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (gospel) to the poor. He has sent me to announce release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; to send forth delivered those who are oppressed, who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed and broken down by calamity. The will of the Father, through the Son is to release the captives and send them forth delivered! "If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).
Jesus came to set the captives free; Satan came to take the free, captive!
Ephesians 4:8
Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men.
He captured captivity; he captured everything that would defeat us to the end the Church can be built up (See Ephesians 4:9-12). What Jesus Christ accomplished 2,000 years ago is for our receiving wholeness today!
The only captivity we should allow is found in II Corinthians 10:3-5, “casting down imaginations and every high thing that exhalteth itself against the knowledge of God [those are the lies of the devil - fear, condemnation, unforgiveness, doubt] and bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” [Bold type added by author]
Ephesians 3:20:
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think according to the power that worketh in us.
It’s the power that works in us that defeats the adversary. We need to speak the word with boldness and share the gospel of deliverance. We, as believers that believe, know that Jesus Christ has made us worthy and has given us the authority to use his name as he promised in Mark 16:16-18.
We all know that the Word is true and faithful. Why are we still under some kind of bondage? There is an adversary, the devil, who everyday tries to defeat us from believing God. But God has placed each one of us in a family, the Body of Christ, to love and serve, to encourage and to deliver. It is the love of God that heals, that breaks the bonds of the evil one.
Each one of us is called to serve in the Body of Christ. The believers within the Body need mending. Remember, we live in the realm of the miraculous, lets expect to see miracles and deliverance everyday.
I John 3:16:
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he [Jesus Christ] laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives [in selfless service] for the brethren.
