Our Secret Place

E-mail Print PDF

It is important for us to be refreshed and strengthened in His presence, so that we may continue joyfully in the work that He has called us to do. Our secret place is where His presence is found.

Psalms 31:19 & 20:
Oh how great is Thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee; which Thou hast wrought for them that trust in Thee before the sons of men!
Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy presence from the pride of man: Thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

When we spend time with God in prayer and in His Word, we enter that secret place which is a place of peace, rest and security. It is where we can give our cares to Him and trust Him to take care of us. It is where we are protected from the attacks of the enemy with untrue words from people and the negative circumstances of life.

It is here we can shed away the stresses of life, knowing we are protected by His presence.

Isaiah 54:17:
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.  This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the LORD.

As sons of God, born again of God's spirit, we have His righteousness within (II Corinthians 5:21); and we are more than servants, we are truly sons of God, joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:14-17). Under these conditions our time spent with the Heavenly Father could not be any more compassionate. We should relish the times we prioritize in our life to be with Him in prayer.

Even Jesus Christ needed those special quiet times with His Father so he could carry out His calling.  Here is one of the many times Jesus Christ got away to a secret place to be with His Father.

Matthew 14:23:
And when He had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone.

For us to be refreshed and re-strengthened, we too must take the time to be in His presence. Regardless of the influences of the adversary, we should make the free will decision to put God first and set up our schedule to be with the Father and then figure out the rest of our day. Here are some of the results we can expect as we get with the Father.

Psalms 16:11:
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalms 91:1 & 2:
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

"Spending time in the secret place of His presence changes you from what you are to what only He can make you to be."

Let's enjoy the fullness of His joy and protection as we schedule our time to visit "our secret place."

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

I Corinthians 15:52
